Film industry and fashion world

Apart from the modelling and fashion industry there is also a huge field that grab the people attention in a big way.  It is nothing but the film industry which strives hard to attract the people with stories and adventures; and it is a place where we can see, that modelling and fashion plays a major role. In other words without movies fashion would not be the same and without fashion movies would not be the same.  In this particular industry the characters who express themselves will inspire a film or one of its popular characters. Costume designing in fashion will be the very important categories and they are looked forward during the different award ceremonies such as the academy awards. While dealing with the whole wardrobe and fashion accessories for a film it requires lot of immense creativity and lots of patience to work which actually helps in identification point between the actors and the viewers.

For instance in the classic film of Casablanca the viewers will be surprised or transported to some other world by fashion. For men it was not considered even as an ordinary suit but it had popularized the Burberry brand more than anything else. Conservative and spy like fashion in this movie will always embrace the feeling of the fashion style. Moreover the contribution of Marlon Brando also popularized the leather jacket, jeans, and white t-shirt dress code in the film Wild One. This movie is the representation of rebellious guys in the fifties which is still used by millions. This outfit is still considered to be a fashion hit which had been adapted over the period of time.

The small black dress is popular among the fashion conscious film buffs even today and it is one among the favorites of them. Breakfast at Tiffany was the best representation of this looks by Audrey Hepburn with her elegance and feminist which was finally achieved by Givenchy designer wears. Her oversized sunglasses and hats, classy trench coat, pearls, are still continues be the favorites in the world of fashion. Men’s fashion which had been stolen by women was reborn from Woody Allen’s Annie Hall that happened in the ‘70s and it is not the original style of 90. Her look was a New York icon and it was as feminine as it was masculine. In the latter part of decade various fashionable vests, men’s pants, jackets, ties; suspenders were some of the best sellers in women’s fashion and styles.

The Devil wears Prada had revealed and showed us the power of the fashion industry in a place like New York City. This film inspired everyone to have their own Cinderella make over kit and also popularized Diane Von wrap dress, Jacob suits and Manolo stilettos. Another movie that goes along this category is Clueless which showed off and depicted Los Angles fashion of the early 90 in a very good way.

London Fashion Week For Autumn/Winter 2009

Was lucky to be invited to the to the SADO catwalk show held at the Science Museum, London.

Even managed to grab a front row seat without pushing anyone out of the way. Sat next to the new designer Delia Covezzi who, although did not have her own show ,was wearing a few of her Autumn/Winter pieces. She looked fantastic and I especially loved the grey tweed trench coat she wore.

I also saw my old callanetics teacher which has to be about 10yrs ago since I went to one of her classes. I instantly recognised her from the large lilac felt hat she was wearing ( looked like a flower). From a personal stylist’s point of view, the hat really was for Ascot use, but it did get her noticed – and that probably was her objective. My tip is if you want to wear a statement piece make sure everything else is toned down. This way your clothes are not fighting for attention and  it will make the whole outfit look classier.

The actual show had great styles which coould be worn by real women and not just catwalk models.(Obviously the sizes would have to be changed) The dominant colour was different shades of grey with the occasional splash of pomegranate red and ochre. The style was tailored but soflty slouchy. SADO’s signature is stylish and classical – this season’s collection did not disappoint.

The young designer for the SADO label is Russian born Carlotta Gherzi (of Italian parents) who brings a modern, elegant edge to the label.
